Perplexity for research with sources
We use Perplexity to lead research: current sources, links and comparisons. Every citation is a lead to inspect, not proof. You use your own Perplexity account.
What we use Perplexity for
iSystematic uses Perplexity as the research lead: finding current sources, linked answers and comparisons.
A person reads the original sources before anything moves on to the drafting step.
Launch workflows that lead with Perplexity
One launch workflow leads with Perplexity. Designed for is not the same as verified on: no workflow has yet passed the test checklist on Perplexity.
- W20 Research to Decision Memo: Perplexity finds the sources, you read the originals, Claude compares them, and ChatGPT or Claude writes the memo
Features we rely on
We rely on one Perplexity feature, linked to Perplexity's own documentation and checked 9 October 2026. Features depend on your account, plan, region and administrator settings.
| Feature | What we use it for | Vendor documentation | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Native research with citations | Current source discovery and linked answers, for research and comparisons | Perplexity: How it works | 9 October 2026 |
Cautions
Perplexity points to sources; it does not settle what is true.
- A citation is a lead to inspect, not proof.
- Two assistants agreeing is not independent evidence.
What we do not rely on Perplexity for
We do not rely on Perplexity for four things.
- Proof: a citation shows where to look, not that a claim is true.
- Writing the memo: that step is designed for ChatGPT or Claude.
- Acting in your systems: we rely on Perplexity for research only.
- Passing work to another assistant: the handoff is manual by default.
Your account, not ours
iSystematic is independent of OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity and xAI; customers use their own accounts.
We set workflows up with you in your own Perplexity account; we do not resell Perplexity.
